im blogging again! found myself to have lots of free time after the exams. my mother is nagging at me to find a job. and dont worry, i would. unfortunately, the cost would be my freedom. :(
went with my family to maude road for dinner. i was surprised that the place was quite crowded for a friday night. went for soccer after that, despite being quite full. had time to change and a five minute rest, before being called for the next team. surprisingly, there were only two other teams there. so it's like, we play and if we lose, we'll just have to wait for five minutes before going back in. i think i hardly play that much on a friday night. in addition, i was too full to move properly.
my parents would be flying to beijing on sunday morning at 1am. dont know if we can send them to the airport, coz my brother would have to drive us back. think he's going out to celebrate his friend's 21st birthday also. and im so gonna miss them. five day trip, and back on thursday night. the house would lose all it's excitment and noise. wondering how im gonna cope with it.

teacher's day ; 15:48
my poly semestral holidays officially started today which means.. almost a two month break!
came back to amksec with qiming today. sy couldnt come coz he had to go school. aww. and it was all qiming's fault! supposed to meet at 0800 and he was late. managed to reach the parade square in time for the..ending? haha.
it was damn early. met lots of people who i never knew. the soccer peeps who didnt know i was an amksian. the people from my sec5'05 year only came after ten. and it was not like, 5a'06. they came like a class outing. we came in..amounts like, 5b 2 and 5c 1. lol.
caught many teachers with their hands full of gifts. many i've not seen since cny. i think i've to go back more often. (:
their dance came in second for the whole performance. devolusion, they call it. the people standing behind me got all 3 winners correct! i somehow think they have outer space reception. they said it was obvious. oh wells.
mskarim was the best. coz me and chanmeng were talking to her about our poly courses, and cm said he didnt really like his course. so the convey went like this.
mskarin: so how are you in poly now?
cm: ok but i dont really like the course.
me: i hate the basics!
mskarim: how are you going to proceed if you dont have the basics? and what are you going to do after you graduate?
*she said cm was miserable, so i replied this*
me: miserable jobs
i think i walked around the school today more times then i usually walk during a normal school day. was like, going in circles and when cm came, accompanied him for another few. only missed out on mrtanwahkiat (who's in brisbane), mrvincentvoo and mrsgofuhui. didnt see the two of them. :(
but anyway, going back to school brings much life into me. meeting up with friends who we dont see often and all.

we shall say, the exams are finally over. two papers only this semester, and i've already got the feeling that im gonna need the supplementary paper to pass.
for both math and engfund, i lost my finishing touches. my mind experienced a state of blankness at the sudden moment. take a glance around and everyone's moving their pen to write or doodle, im there racking my minds to think. anyway, it's a week to rest before results are released, and two before the sup papers. so i shall try very hard to.. relax! (:
i dont think this is the rainy season. the sky doesn't seem to agree with me. im missing all my soccer. sighh.
it's teacher's day celebrations tomorrow. back to amkss! only that mrtanwahkiat isn't there anymore. he's furthering studies in australia. :(

yeah! im finally done with math, after spending the whole study week staring at my math textbk. gave up complex numbers at last night.
i predict..i SHOULD pass. was hoping to aim for at least a b grade. someone can try the killer distinction compulsory section c 12 mark question, which i'll upload when i remember to.
i left c1b blank and many others half done. anyway, i shan't think about it anymore. results will be out by first week of september. engfund on thurs. im gonna give myself the day off, and officially start studying again tomorrow! (:

this was meant to be on saturday, which was a few hours ago.
dinner-ed with my parents. qiming waited 30mins for me though i stressed that he had to be at my block latest 2100. and i was late. (:
shiyuan had somehow organised a bbq somewhere beside block 212 for, himself? to celebrate his birthday. started at 1800 and i came three hours later. the thing is, i missed the fireworks again! wtf. i was supposed to watch yesterday, but i couldn't bring myself to forgo my soccer.
anyway, i brought qiming with me for the reason i didn't want to go alone. thought i would feel awkward but i managed to mingle quite well, to my own surprise. not as many people as he exaggerated - his family plus ruishan's family plus a few friends from all over? i found out that 3/4 of the people came from amkss and more than 1/2 of them were underage for the bottle of wine i found on the table.
we were supposed to mingle. somehow, found ourselves engaged in adult talk with sy's father and brother? i think. qiming was there speaking through his knowledge of religions, and i chose to pick the corner spot to observe their conversations without saying much. it prove to be a better option. i didn't eat much also, except for a chicken wing, a sausage and 3 pieces of jelly.
the talk lasted an amazing 90mins+-. it was 0010 when we ended? everyone cleared the place and went up to his house or left already. the bbq pit was quiet except of the 4 of us insisting on each's own pointers away. met sy as he came down and ended up bring the remaining pot of beehoon up. his father then fetched qiming and me home.
to summarise, the talk mainly on stating examples for us. i chose to take the stand of the law that examples must be supported by evidence, as some were very descriminating. i'm not saying here that i don't believe him, and it's true that he wouldn't come up with stories at 12 in the night. anyway, i take every meeting that we talked as a lesson learnt. some values that you've never thought of, as well as those that we've overlook.
for this, i use an example. the phrase, "forgive and forget". think it through. one can forgive even for a grave sin, but can it be forgotten? this, i think was the most meaningful lesson for the night.
otherwise, thanks to shiyuan for inviting me to his bbq pre-birthday party. thanks a million. (:

the final lessons of year1 semester1 are comprog, emath and engfund lectures. for now, we've farewell-ed to stevenlee - we'll see him again next sem, engfund tutorial, wrtoral's patrick STARFISH and effcom. during last lessons, teachers seem friendlier than they usually are. and the hatred, isn't there anymore. instead, it's the sadness to part.
the most important reason why i've got to go to school tomorrow is to present my computer programming java. yeaps. the last and final project submission of the semester. study week next. i've got to mass engfund first, coz i wanna a distinction. emath next. aiming for at lease a b. predicting that i'll skip the distinction section c already. (:
it's wesley's birthday today! didnt celebrate with him for two years already. and now, i owe him a car coz he passed his driving test the day before. hey congrats! (:

hooray, horray, it's the last week of school!
webapp presentation done, wrtoral speech over. im left with comprog's java, which im issuing a desperate plea for help. tried weiliang's if..else and alan's switch..case and either way, it'll be error prone and just wont work. somehow here, im trying hard not to copy. (:
soccer on friday was bad. played 2 games for the period of 150 mins. the second one lasted less than 30 seconds. still remember it quite clearly. only me and chunfa touched the ball. ironical.
this leaves me with 3 things to do this holiday.
1. source for a laptop
2. improve my soccer skills
3. workworkwork!

happy birthday singapore!
we were late. ok i was. met terence at dhoby ghaut control. went to ps to eat lunch. had burger king. and we ended up reaching raffles place mrt 2+. everyone had left, so we made our way to the padang ourselves. it was damn crowded. waited for more than an hour before being allowed in.
tp wasn't together at all. our engine was scattered everywhere, it and as found themselves totally isolated and our student leaders ended up camping together in one line. only business could be seen bundled up. terence sat in front of me, and we found ourselves sitting beside the business school. lets not go into it but i found the girl seating beside terence nice! she helped me change the colour of my zipper ndp bag. (:
honestly, i thought we had to stand from 1700-1930. luckily, we only did for a mere 30 mins. and to say, we found our way into the book of records for the largest human singapore flag. congrats young ntuc! thanks for this wonderful day.
we shifted positions to the it area when we were dismissed, coz terence wanted to find his friend. watched the whole show at the padang, and got a live view of the fireworks, which were just beside us. i never once thought of going to the padang to catch the fireworks.
this year's ndp was at marina bay, on the floating parade just off the esplanade. our national stadium was undergoing redevelopment to become a sports hub. something different, for a change. fireworks was nice! (:
if my mind was more carefree today, i'd really have enjoyed myself. unfortunately throughout the whole day, i was thinking about wrtoral, about my speech on friday. now im back home, i've got to rush everything out. hope my speech goes smoothly tomorrow, and i'll be free!

webapp today was slightly better than expected. was the 4th out of 6 groups to present. lucky for us, there was time constraint. everything was quicken and we all said less. well, should pass. quite impressed with our site. wondering if i can transfer the files for home usage.
unfortunately, we ate into apel time. dismissed around 1220. wanted to cab back to amksec for the ndp celebrations but considering fiona said it ends at 1130, i think i'd be walking into a ghost town. went with terence and brandon to queue for zhang dong liang free concert tickets out the library and i realised i forgot my matric card. we didnt get any tickets anyway. the queue went all the way to the entrance of itas block.
it's NATIONAL DAY tomorrow! i'll be spending half the day rotting at the padang, thanks to the umbrella thingie. what a waste of a public holiday.
still have wrtoral to rush. i just received the speech from qiming this afternoon, and i've yet to properly settle down into a working posture. this should be effective in 2 hours time.
yesterday.
school ended at one. free access labs were only available after five. so i had a four-hour break.
went with qiming to tampines mall to watch the simpsons movie. some sympathy for him; he came all the way to tampines during his study week to accompany me. 1450 show.
basically, the show makes you laugh. it's crappy. (:
met brandon at tp interchange after that. went school together and met terence at the bus stop. mass motherload before we started our webapp project. applying the last minute touches and creating our powerpoint slides. stayed in school till the labs closed at 2130. first time we stayed in school that late to do projects.
dinner after that with terence and brandon at some random coffee shop opposite our school. cab-ed home, on request of brandon's mother. terence off first, $6+. me next, $13+. brandon last, $18+. omgf.

which means i managed 10 kills in 2 games. looks fine to me. just a mere consolation.

my reflection
wcg is not easily what people think it is. to able to fight on the battleground, one must go through intense and consistant training. coming from our oponents alone, they've trained for at leasr 2-3 years to date.
for competitions like this, we dont look at the individual skill. because in a team, everyone is equal. we look at team spirit. our core factor to why we failed.
looking forward into the future now. whats past, was a very important experience for all of us. but instead of thinking who was at fault, we should build on it for future competitions. some ask me, am i really quitting cs after my supposedly last wcg? to say, i really dont know.

i could say, today was the first time i've played a proper software game at national level. i formed the almost impossible time with the shortest stimulated time, given there was only a couple of days before the registration closed.
team zephyrical is a team with different individuals from various polytechnics. raondomly picked, we consist of five main members.
1. favian goh aka coww (leader)
2. brandon tan aka fumin (assistant leader)
3. terence loong aka iPeaceX
4. zhang qiming aka zqp
5. goh kian yong aka allyourbase
with only 2 trainings which were not even full, one cant expect too much. my aim was to win at least 1 round out of 30. though we fell short of our target, it was a major experience gain for us.
the tournament divided us into 3 teams, with only the first team qualifying for the next round. our 2 oponents were iTrust and WaltDisney. we could put up a fight, if we had trained harder.

a rough summary. both times, i won the coin toss and chose terr, mainly because we could have more teamwork. an overall evaluation would be simple. our team was messy. we were all over the place. no one knew their roles. perhaps, the atmosphere made us nervous.
but to conclude, we're still a team. blame not one individual. it's one for all. (:
