ifc camp/ banquet? ; Sunday, April 29, 2007 01:09

i just reached home. im so super tired. and i haven't had my dinner.

ifc camp

spent 15$ to rush a cab to tp last minute for the "compulsory" ifc camp. if not for
the people who forced me, i wouldn't even have went. brandon didnt even come!
not to say he didnt reply my messages i sent from 1500-1730.

they ATTEMPTED a campfire on the first night. i tried hard to make it memorable.
i like our skit though. IF YOU KNOW. group three. (:

maybe the food was more filling. i wouldnt say better. rice was sour, so was the
meat. omg. we suspected it was spoilt. i didnt notice, until someone said so.

for the second day, they wanted to make amends(spell?). so they did food cheers
before meals, and tried foc's hunt-gry. here, it's called a scavanger hunt, which is
almost exactly the same.

i left halfway though. 1515. to work.

d'marquee@downtown east - banquet

we were SUPPOSED to report at 1530, latest 1600. my bus came late. by the time
i walked there, it was 1610. shiyun and jiayi were still not there, unfortunately. my
latest additions to the banquet squad. they shared a cab there, from parkway.

shiyun was sick. she ate snickers, and became more energetic than ever. next time
anyone feels like fainting, eat that or something sweet. and you can go to mos
straight after that. (:

i was assigned tables b7 and b8, in front of jiayi's c1 and c2. shiyun was opposite us,
at the other end. i think quite lucky i got to be with one of them. or if isolated again,
it'd be damn boring. saturday's night event was an award presentation for MARKET
NETWORKING COMPANY EKLIN(or something). i had the feeling they wanted
to brainwash us too.

but it finished earlier tonight. AND THE PROGRAMME ENDED BEFORE ALL THE
FOOD WAS SERVED AGAIN. same thing happened first time i worked last month.
they tried to hurry things today, but failed. though i must admit the thing ended
earlier today, at 2145. so we had to clear the tables, and keep everything else.

left at 2300. 44.50$ for a night. didnt join the rest for dinner. took 21 with the two
girls to geylang area. then i took a cab home! 45cents bus journey + 9.45$ cab fare.
simply beats the 16$ from pasar ris home.

gerald cancelled gym tomorrow. im gonna sleep like a pig. anyway, hope you two
enjoyed the work today. ((:

week one day 1 ; Monday, April 23, 2007 20:18

school started on a poor note today. 9-5 is not a very good way to start your first of
the 3years.

my father fetched me, means i reached school at the usual 0745. was meeting the rest
at 0815. celeste came the earliest! think she reached past eight. brandon came exactly
at 0815. the 3of us went to eat first, with mel. more people came when we were
having breakfast at engine's carona canteen. ate teriyaki chicken rice for breakfast.

lessons were well, boring. lots of ground rules for the whole day, until engineering math
and fundamentals lectures came along. i simply hate them. didnt understand a single
thing for the whole 2hours. lunch wasnt any better. we went to massa(spell?), at the
business block. went to queue for 10mins at the western stall there. we wanted to eat
spag chicken chop, so brandon went to order spag and chicken chop. 4.60$. we had two
plates to eat. was so damn full.

went to the student lounge after that to play pool. 9people sharing 1table. i touched
the cue stick an amazing 3times. to break, hit a double foxy which missed, and missed
a free ball when i had the chance to win. 2hours of comprog teached java, which i
humbly failed. engfund tutorial summed up my 8hours in school.

tmr's 10-1. i have to hope it's gonna be better. boredom sucks. i rather stay at home. (:

week zero day 123 ends here ; Friday, April 20, 2007 22:01

i'm back from the longest 3day non-camp orientation i've ever been to. never have i
spent 3whole days in orientations, not till few days ago.

the first day saw me putting myself into a lecture threatre with 174 other unknown
individuals, which led to us being divided into 8different classes, far from last years
10. my foc mates were in another classes, and the 21(1 absent) people in my class
have never seen each other before. our two beloved student mentors, joann and
dawn, were having their 1st time managing a class. well, we could see they really
tried. however, the organising for the first day was quite poor. 0830-1825.

the second day installed us with talks by our cp, the cm and director. followed by
mass cheering at the tcc. we managed to play some games organised by program. it
was called "save the bomb", with a catcher to catch as many water bombs as
possible. f704 won! we were to represent ifc and engine at the telematches the next
day. 0900-1945.

and finally, friday. met brandon, wei liang, terence and jarred for breakfast at the
school of business. the food was so much better than engine's. and we ended up
going reporting late, together. were given engine's purple tp shirt each for the games.
look weird. and their large was small! i took xl and foc. ended up being a spectator
because we had too many people. alas, engine still did not win any titles at
regatta(spell?). we could tell by the look on eric(our fa)'s face. he was disappointed.
but we still have next year and we would win! went for dinner. with brandon,
wei liang, celest and melissa opposite tp. went back to check out the jam and hop
after that. cabbied home! 10.70$. reasonable. (: 1000-2110.

we got our timetables on the last day.
mon 9-5, tues 10-1, wed 9-1, thurs 9-1, fri 9-1
i'm loving it!

week zero orientation - day1 ; Wednesday, April 18, 2007 21:58

i used to wonder why they made freshmen orientations' compulsory. now i know the
reason. if they dont, i could say no one would turn up. firstly for my dear engine, it's
3whole days of fo. starting from today 0830-1830, tomorrow 0900-1700 and friday,
0830-2200? thats from what i saw in the student mentor's programme list. foc's still
much better, though i must say there's an improvement in the food.

diploma in infocomm is not known as dic, but difc. i knew that today. my class, f704,
consists of 22individuals with 7odd girls? yeaps but it's still better than the mechatronics
engineering. heard that they have an all-boys class there. well, it's the school of
engineering after all, not business. our class also got two nice student mentors, joann and
dawn, who are quite nice people just like foc.

we got our textbooks today too. a fee of $4 for 3day lunch, and $17 for engfun, math and
presentation skills books. i brought $20 and left with 20cents. anyway, have to bring $60
more tomorrow. some $30 java book to purchase. and they're quite thick.

oh wells. i still prefer foc. (:

orientations' tomorrow ; Tuesday, April 17, 2007 14:26

i met sy after school to do my tp ezlink card yesterday. took 132 down to hougang
central and waited for 30secs. i realised that i can still use my ite ezlink card. and i
hope they dont terminate it. 45cents per ride! $8 for the card, which i was given a
receipt in return. had to collect it from the school. why? tp chooses to be different. i
was wondering what would happen if i were to lose the receipt because, you're
supposed to present it to collect your card.

took 165 back to amk central after that. nothing to do in hougang. there was charter
buses going from hougang central to ngeeann! so biased. how come no buses from amk to tp. that'll be great! we went to our favourite hangout - kpool. why? it is
knownthat with few people, there isn't really anything for you to do. we tried thinking
for the past month. and soon, it'll be an empty pocket. haven't worked for a long time.
think ph's way of doing things are really, uncommentable. i'd so love to find another
job.

11.60$. went to mac opposite amkss for a bite. 2people - 20piece nuggets and 1large
fries. something you should never try. have ulcers in your mouth and you cant eat
properly. plus, i just recovered from post-foc which requires shouting the whole day.
losing my shouting voice slowly. then sy's cousin and friends came in. thanks to him,
it almost looked like a matchmaking session. luckily i had my back faced most of the
time. no insult. but it's isn't that i dont want to talk, i just dont know what to say. not
now, hopefully soon.

macdonalds new evm (:

went home after that. was flipping through my tp booklet when i realised my
orientation starts tomorrow, not thurs. have to report by 0830 at tp sch of eng lvl 3. i've got a bad feeling it lasts
till late afternoon and for 3days, i dont know whats going to happen. icebreaking for
9hours and 3days? i'll report sick and leave halfway. (:

students' union foc 07/08 ; Saturday, April 14, 2007 23:35

im back from the temasek polytechnic students' union freshmen orientation camp from 12-14 of april. something i registered, and almost wanted to turn back half way, and im so glad i didnt.

met winnie at yck phs bus stop at 1030. she was supposed to pass something to weilie i think, but he was late. and she happened to see qifeng opposite us, so we went after him. we shared a cab to tampines central after that. we reached there at 1130. bought food to eat and took a bus to tp. met jeffery and his friends there. we were late. 1206.

all of us were separated. i only knew jeffery was with me on day2. there were 5empires; i was in ayton. each was divided into a sub, and aytrox after that. everyone could remember how one of our group leaders - samamtha - did
spastic cheer. she was so enthusiastic! (:

day1.

ice-breakers after that. realised that many of the freshies were from htm, and mechatronics engineering. we had to play games to get to know everyone's names, more importantly those sitting on your left and right. i
remember this time, when there was this gl sitting beside me 3times, and i forgot her name in all of it. she was like, why do you keep following me? and i was, how do i know? from then, i remembered her name like she remembered mine. she was joanna. (:

we were to then, design our empire flag. the design students did it, and the rest did cheering.
then it was dinner. for all 3days, we had to cheer the loudest to eat first. rice, tofu and ngo hiang. the funny part came. freshies were to eat first, then the gls. when it was their turn, there was little rice and only tofu and lots of ngo hiangs left. so aytrox became known as ngohiangs after that. they even devised a ngohiang cheer which was in dialect. i cant really remember the lyrics, but it was damn funny. instead of aytons, we became ngohiangs.

we had station games at night in school, which were meant to be in tampines central. lights out were at 0100, but the lights went off at 0000. i dont know why. there were 2toilets in the sports complex, with 20bathing cubicles in all. we had 200+ guys. so by the time we bathed,
we it was almost one. we had to get up by 0700 the next day.

day2.

there was morning exercise. our gls were leading it. ben was so cute! we had to do a cha cha
dance. it goes. palms together, elbows together, knees together, feet apart, buttocks up, dance!
pi gu cha, pi gu cha, pi gu cha cha cha. they know how to get you awake. got a bun for breakfast, and milo with sugar syrup as a drink. tastes nicer than with milk!

no station games means more ice breaking in the sports complex. we learnt a sign language dance, the tp song and of course, tp's mass dance, which led to a chicky dance at the end. if you do all together, you'll be damn tired. i remember i did my first dance with a kaistor gl. i was sweating all over, and she just kept laughing. didnt have time to ask her for her name though. we also had to prepare for performance night too. divided ourselves into 3groups. there was skit, cheer and dance. i was in the skit. we reanacted the first day when we
had dinner, and the gls reaction when they saw the tofu and ngohiang. the rest of the committees acted also, followed by our gls the last. omg i simply love
their cheers. a little bit of everyone in there. they rocks!

after that, the sports complex turned into mos for an hour. lights off, disco and all. everyone was dancing, in a high mode. and it ended. our camp was almost, but not over yet.

i was walking to the shower and someone called me. it's hard to imagine that someone who we've only seen once before could remember each other. i couldnt even recognise who she is.

day3.

no morning exercise! but we still had to wake up at 0700, and have breakfast half and hour later. we learnt more new cheers, and had station games this time because the sun was out!

i think the theme of the station games was water. everything involved water, and they made sure everyone present was really soaking with water. all of us passed our phones and wallets to joanna, which suddenly made her look very valuable. we walked, jogged, and ran. someone commented it was worse than soccer training. and some in my group were very negative. after all, participating in foc is only once in a lifetime. i dont understand them.

our next stop was hunt-gry. we were given a list of activities to carry out, and cheer after that. samantha had to leave half way, which was sad. i think half of us didnt even know she left. she wanted us to get first. final clash was cancelled due to wet conditions, and we went from last to second. hopefully she'd be happier. i think we really gave our 101%. many of the freshies lost our voice, and mine sounds funny.

the graduating fas had their speech, our gls had their last cheers for the foc, everyone had the
last mass dance and tp's song. then everyone came in slowly, into a big circle for photo taking,
and by empire. then we gathered among ourselves and the gls went outside, queueing up in a straight line. we got our certificates of participation, and we went out to shake our gls' hands. me and joanna were at it again. we had a hard and windy handshake. haha i love you all! i think they really gave everything they
had. they were really great throughout, and did not show any forms of tiredness, although we know they were more tired and hungrier than us.

i didnt go with them to mac and cpf building after that. i dont know the real reason, maybe because the people i was closer to all left halfway. or maybe i had already asked my parents to fetch me, and since they were on the way, i didnt want to say i couldnt make it. it was a tradition to go there, and i didnt. could have caught up with the gls and fas. and i missed it.

sentosaCANCELLED ; Tuesday, April 10, 2007 22:52

i didnt go sentosa today. angela cancelled it at 0051 in the morning. sy forwarded me the message 4mins later. i only read it in at 8. and by then, i couldnt get back to sleep. fifa-ed my morning away. gerald had orientation at ngeeann in the morning. he met and brought his friend went to raiders after that. played cs, starcraft, and back to cs. i played horribly. too long didnt play. surprising though. played from 1435-1910, only $7.50 per person. didnt really matter.

it's 1.5days more at home. have su's orientation camp after that to sat night. suddenly dont feel like going. it's only two nights. thats to console myself.

gym-ing tomorrow morning. going to moe building to take olevel cert with gerald after that. maybe cm will be coming along. and then home! dont want to stay out too late tomorrow. have to pack my things for the camp im so reluctant to go. :'(

i had an experiment with sy yesterday. he accompanied me to test the travelling time.
service 88; 1552-1643
from opp amk sec-pasar ris interchange. 50mins
service 15; 1650-1707
from pasar ris interchange to temasek polytechnic. 17mins
total: 67mins

however, traffic would probably be heavy in the morning. my allocated time would be 90mins. just have to get used to it. it's going to be a long 3years. i could actually say, i dont know any in tp. or rather, im not close with anyone i know who's there. thats why im forcing myself to go for the camp.

running out ; Monday, April 09, 2007 10:49

the holidays are running out fast. it's 3days to the student's union orientation camp, which will last till saturday night. and it's 4 more days of rest and it'll be the freshmen's orientation the following thursday and friday. and school in a new life, starts.

i think i lost the mood to study already. have to get myself up early before 9 everyday. and maybe, prepare for books. could say i didnt touch any since november last year. coz ite's quite relaxing here.

ngeeann's orientation starts tomorrow. and think the rest too. tp's the only one which starts later than the rest by a week. so the extra week wouldnt really matter to me, because everyone would be in school slugging away. even ite starts with them. and so i guess i'll have to stone for the remaining days.

went swimming 2 hours ago. swam 10laps and was tired. i cant remember the last time i swam in a swimming pool. should be years ago. still can remember amksian family day. swam in the sea with gerald, sy and cm. trap water half way leg almost cramp! and i had to swim back first. so, i'll have to swim regularly again. my probable schedule when school starts would be, either swim or gym on sat or sun. i wouldnt wanna occupy my weekends with cca. dont think i should be so busy in poly. just focusing on my studies should be enough.

diploma in info-comm. dic. lol.

ite: sentosa tmr! again.

do i have a choice? ; Thursday, April 05, 2007 11:34

yesterday.

i finally went out, for a whole one too, since saturday's sunburn. four days at home were long, and boring. yet i didnt find anything interesting about going out. you see, go out = increase in expenditure. (:

went with shiyuan to thomson cc for lunch. why did we go there? we're so sick of the food we have in our vicinity. took 855 down to queensway shopping centre after that. he wanted to print jersey, so i accompanied him. $18 each, compared to the $58 addidas one. 40$ difference. lol.

and it rained, just as we were done. my umbrella chose the best time to be faulted, and was well fine when i tested it at home. he wanted to go j8 to buy bacon?, as he wanted to make mash potato but decided that there was no direct bus. so, we continued the 855 journey and went down to vivo city. one word - cold. yeaps.

why were we there? sy said he read in a forum that there was this shop which sold nice chocolate drinks. godiva. heard of it. it looks so high class i never dreamt of entering it. he eventually bought a cup for.. $8. and felt so poor after that. but it really tasted nice. i should try it one day, when im working. (:

j got jelly beans from candy empire and a pair of sandals from wos, and we left after that because we were just there less than a week ago. lesser people on weekdays though. he wanted to go j8, but we ended up in kpool. met cm and clement in the 3rd story toilet. they just reached there too! quite coincidential. i played for an hour till 1835, then i had to leave first as i needed to fetch some dumplings from my grandmother's house. wanted to find the three of them an hour later, but they left already. i reached home before eight! watch read 1957.

ite.

i didnt expect i'd do so badly for my ite exams. if even liang sheng could do better than me for accounting, it shows why i should leave. no insult here.

1. business communications - b
2. business statistics - d
3. intermediate accounting - d
gpa = 2.3

to say the least, i passed. from a gpa 3 down to 2.3. expected myself to do better, really. but anyway, i atriched myself already. and i should look forward..

nyp rejected me. my dae application failed. rp would reply me in 2 days. and if it all fails, i'll have to stay at tp.
